Deanery Mission Vespers - All Saints Church, March 21, 2010 - 03/21/10

The new iconography was "unveiled" for a multi-parish Deanery Lenten Mission Vespers service on Sunday, March 21. The church was full of people, and the people were full of joy seeing the restored All Saints!
Our choir director, Reader David Brzuchalski, leads a multi-parish choir in the glorious music of the Lenten Vespers service.
Surrounded by the Saints, Fr. David Shewzcyk reads the stirring Gospel account of our Lord's Passion and Crucifixion.
Fr. Joel Weir (St. Basil's OCA Church, Simpson; senior at St. Tikhon's Seminary) preaches on "the two Marys" - the Mother of God, and St. Mary of Egypt, whose day it is.
Fr. Joel encourages the faithful - the "Church Militant" - to finish the course of the Lenten fast...
...as the Saints - the "Church Triumphant," whose images adorn the temple - join our prayers.
Protodeacon Gabriel Petorak (St. Michael's Church, Jermyn) leads us in prayer.
Fr. Dan Kovalak (Holy Cross Church, Williamsport), our Dean, looks on from the Royal Doors as the clergy venerate the Precious Cross at the service's conclusion.
These Sunday evening services are always a joyous time, with over a dozen priests and 150 or more faithful coming together from throughout the Scranton / Wilkes-Barre Orthodox community.
